The art of being flexible with life.
First of all I am still deciding if this an article worth writing. In the essence of when you come up with an idea for something, countless doubts and worries arise as well. I guess the best way to look at this is being aware of the constant flow of emotions that we face every day, every hour, every minute and every second. Your environment is the canvas where situations are often painted and your brain is the ultimate spectator seeking for some kind of reaction.
All emotions are flowing, therefore they’re not permanent and eventually will go away. That is the first thing you should remind yourself, all emotions are pilgrims on their journey to somewhere, other than permanently staying in your mind.
A perfect example of these emotions is that it felt for me that, the idea of this topic was utterly insignificant. Therefore being rejected when you put something out in the world is one of the most painful experiences as an artist of any kind. When the crowd doesn’t show up to a concert, a band cries inside. When the paintings are not selling, the painter questions in pain his ability. When an author’s book doesn’t meet the sold copies quota, he will probably feel like a failure.
We all have that one thing that is the door to our ego. So what does this have to do with a wobble? The wobble is ever changing, never settling to the forces that shape it constantly. These forces and emotions, are in constant motion and on a constant flow no matter its shape of form. It never stops being, and that’s all it needs.
The line that connects you to that starts to draw itself in the need of you to acquire the skill of constant motion no matter the forces. The ability to continue to move when nothing in your life appears to let go of you, pinning you down when you stick your head up. The lack of recognition that drives away all your efforts into achieving something great when you constantly pursue the great. But in doing so, the only “great” offered to you is the great resistance that the universe shows, when you try to form a new form inside of you.
It is your duty and responsibility to your own self to fight for yourself, even when it means battling against yourself. When these forces of life make their way to you, re-shape yourself, do never get caught up in the same form, trying to solve new problems. Allow all forces and emotions to make their way through you, let their resistance fuel be spent, because you can’t fight resistance with resistance itself, the only way is to first surrender yourself to it. Only after allowing your ego to die, you will be able to allow yourself a fair fight and rise again to your new form.
Life is made of aspirations, dreams, desires and goals. These things have a big power in shaping who we are so they also have a big power in influencing our emotions, as Jesus said in Mathew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” And loosing a treasure is a painful experience isn’t it? Especially when that treasure is yourself, and you confuse with other goals you have in life, and you begin to loose both, on both sides.
It is very important to not let that happen, even when life is pressing itself against you. Your dreams should be the weapons to fight these seasons, the things you love and most desire, they should be the fuel, but not the car itself.
Being flexible with life in such way will allow yourself to let go naturally of that that doesn’t belong to you. This flexible dynamic offers you much more power than holding on to anything in this life, other than yourself.
Do never anchor your life into anything other than the person you truly are. That is the only not-ever-changing thing you should have, your inner self.
