Humbling yourself before God.
Dear friend,
These last weeks God has been teaching me about humility. And how being humble is the only way to put down our fleshly desires.
Well, there's reason pride why is the oldest sin in the universe. It was the sin to which brought evil itself into existence.
Pride makes you use the image of God to create an image of a lower god: you.
God is calling you to humble yourself when He saw pride manifesting in your heart in ways that removed Him from the frontline of your life. When you lost control and tried to grasp it by yourself; when you tried to fight sin with your own hands and couldn’t accept God’s wonderful grace. Even when you didn’t pray because you thought He wouldn’t listen. That was all coming from a prideful place, denying the need for Jesus’s grace.
When you begin to think that the solution to your problems is yours to find, when God speaks but you don't listen and when you begin to look at your life through your own eyes, that is Pride's castle being built, with walls so high that no one can climb.
Unfortunately, sometimes not even God itself, because He's a gentleman, He knocks, He doesn't tear the door down.
James 4 says: "But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
The good news is, no matter how prideful your heart looks now, Jesus is looking to give you more grace.
It doesn't matter how big these walls are, if you're willing let the word of God cut through them.
I pray in Jesus' name that God can show you the hidden parts of your heart that needs working, and a breaking from pride.
I pray you live a life walking humbly with God and those around you. Allowing God to show Himself strong for you, accepting His graceful help when you most want to do all by yourself.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6)
I love you and God bless you,
Mica
